Assignment 3 - Evaluation

How the aims of the production have been met:

For our project we organised actors by using our selfs and taking turns filming each other with the camera so we all got a chance. For the costumes and props we decided to go for normal everyday things, as the characters are supposed to be normal teens and things go wrong. We had a singular prop which was a hammer that is used as the significant item. For us to meet our deadline on time we had regular filming times and edited in school together. The lighting we used was naturalist and dark to emphasise the genre.

How the product applies appropriate codes and conventions and uses appropriate media language:

We tried our best to follow the regular conventions of the horror genre by researching different conventions and the 'rules' needed. We did jump scares , dark lighting, 'creepy music' and so on. Our 'possessed' character wore dark clothes to show the genre and how he is the 'bad guy'.

How the product represents people, places or events:

We used the people and costumes to reach our target audience by making them young and mischievous to create a sense of relation to the audience. For the place we used an abounded house which was dirty and had a lot of broken items to create the idea of mystery and curiosity. The costumes, we just used normal clothes to look like normal teenagers and to keep the target audience interest as they are the same age.

Where and when the product would be exhibited/distributed:

For our movie to be seen by our target audience we will put it on a wide spread of different media platforms. We would put it in cinemas in-between horror and teen movies and also on social media pages such as Facebook, make an Instagram page and twitter page and so on for publicity and recognition. Also it would be exhibited on TV ads and so on. Even include its own website for the fans to go on and do stuff.

What regulations and controls might be applied to the product and how these have been taken into consideration:

For us to follow the copy right laws we were careful to make sure our movie name hasn't been used before and also the story line was original. We used our own music to prevent further issues with copy right in other companies and with other artists in the music business.

The strengths and weaknesses of the product in the terms of meeting its needs of the audience:

Our audience feedback was mainly positive and the majority of people said they would watch our film if it were to be real. In my own opinion I think it was successful in the audience feedback due to our audience research.  I feel as if we could've done better with it but I also believe it was a success in looking professional.
