How the aims of the production have been met:
For our project we organised actors by using our selfs and taking turns filming each other with the camera so we all got a chance. For the costumes and props we decided to go for normal everyday things, as the characters are supposed to be normal teens and things go wrong. We had a singular prop which was a hammer that is used as the significant item. For us to meet our deadline on time we had regular filming times and edited in school together. The lighting we used was naturalist and dark to emphasise the genre.
How the product applies appropriate codes and conventions and uses appropriate media language:
We tried our best to follow the regular conventions of the horror genre by researching different conventions and the 'rules' needed. We did jump scares , dark lighting, 'creepy music' and so on. Our 'possessed' character wore dark clothes to show the genre and how he is the 'bad guy'.
How the product represents people, places or events:
We used the people and costumes to reach our target audience by making them young and mischievous to create a sense of relation to the audience. For the place we used an abounded house which was dirty and had a lot of broken items to create the idea of mystery and curiosity. The costumes, we just used normal clothes to look like normal teenagers and to keep the target audience interest as they are the same age.
Where and when the product would be exhibited/distributed:
For our movie to be seen by our target audience we will put it on a wide spread of different media platforms. We would put it in cinemas in-between horror and teen movies and also on social media pages such as Facebook, make an Instagram page and twitter page and so on for publicity and recognition. Also it would be exhibited on TV ads and so on. Even include its own website for the fans to go on and do stuff.
What regulations and controls might be applied to the product and how these have been taken into consideration:
For us to follow the copy right laws we were careful to make sure our movie name hasn't been used before and also the story line was original. We used our own music to prevent further issues with copy right in other companies and with other artists in the music business.
The strengths and weaknesses of the product in the terms of meeting its needs of the audience:
Our audience feedback was mainly positive and the majority of people said they would watch our film if it were to be real. In my own opinion I think it was successful in the audience feedback due to our audience research. I feel as if we could've done better with it but I also believe it was a success in looking professional.

Assignment 3 - Proposal
Film Trailer Proposal:
2 Genre
The genre we have chose was horror because we feel it reaches to a wider range of age groups in our audience. Our sub-genre was supernatural horror, as its about a hammer taking over a persons mindset and physical actions. The conventions from the genre that we are following is the dark, empty theme. This is a common theme to have throughout a horror film as a gloomy effect so make the audience feel tense. Another convention we will follow is the setting area. A common place for a horror film to be set is in an 'haunted' or 'abandoned' house and we used the same setting. Usually in horror films, theres lots of jump scares and we show this in our trailer.
3 Content/structure
The name of our film is 'Obsidian'. We called the movie 'Obsidian' because it will create suspicion and mystery within the audience. It relates to our movie because - 'Obsidian' is a black piece of rock (or left over) from a Volcano and in our trailer when the male character gets possessed, the hammer he is possessed by has black stuff on it (like Obsidian) and his nails grow black. The main story we have of the film which is revealed in the trailer, is three teens break into an abandoned house and one becomes possessed and then starts to follow the other two, at the end of the trailer we see him trying to kill one of the girls in the pool, showing his intentions are to hurt them.

4 Audience
g Our trailer can appeal to horror fans of all ages but however it is mainly aimed at young adults - teenagers, as the characters in the movie are of a younger age and the audience would feel like they can relate to the 'normal' teenage characters

5 Representation
In our trailer we have three characters, two girls and one boy. They are represented as average teenagers but then the guy becomes possessed. We showed this by putting him in dark clothes, using dark features to follow conventions and used his hair as a messy way to show he is unstable. We also used his facial expressions.
Institution
v Alongside our trailer, for promotion we shall also release an Official Twitter page, FaceBook page and a film poster to promote the film. We will use the same color scheme for all and the logo with similar photos on all advertisements, to create a branding. The trailer shall be released on social media (eg. Youtube) forms and in cinemas.

Assignment 3 - Costume/props planning

Use a long white nightgown to emphasis the innocence of the character and also it is a common convention in horror movies as it is creepy.
This vest would go well with the costume of the old man, he will also wear a ruffled under shirt to compliment it.
We will use this axe hammer as the murder weapon and to show this we will have snippets of this and a sledge hammer throughout the trailer, although it is a common weapon we think it is the most effective.Tuesday, 3 October 2017
